Your trust matters.
You should know what happens to the information you share, and have the chance to ask questions before we begin.

Talking openly can feel vulnerable. Protecting your privacy is central to how I work.
What you share in therapy is treated as confidential. Before we begin, I will explain how your information is used and how records are protected.
Confidentiality is not absolute. There may be circumstances where information needs to be shared to protect you or someone else from serious harm, meet safeguarding responsibilities or comply with a legal requirement.
Where possible and safe, I will discuss this with you first and share only what is necessary. You can ask about confidentiality at any point.
I abide by the BACP Ethical Framework, the NCPS Code of Ethics and the IPT UK Code of Conduct. These commitments mean treating you with respect, protecting your privacy, agreeing clear boundaries, working within my training and competence, and keeping my skills up to date through supervision and continuing professional development.
They also mean being honest about what therapy can offer and taking concerns seriously. You can raise concerns with me or contact the relevant professional body about its complaints process.
Read the professional standards: BACP Ethical Framework · NCPS Code of Ethics · IPT UK Code of Conduct.
I’ll ask only for information needed for our work and explain why. Your details will be kept confidential and stored securely. Before collecting therapy records, I’ll explain the storage arrangements, who may have access and how long records will be kept, so you can ask questions first.
I will not automatically tell your GP that you are having therapy. Providing their details does not give permission for routine contact. If speaking with your GP or another professional could help, I would normally discuss this with you and ask for your agreement first.
You can talk about difficult feelings without someone else automatically being contacted. We would explore what is happening and what support you need. If there were a serious safety concern or a legal duty to share information, I might need to act without your permission. Wherever safe and possible, I would talk this through with you first.
We’ll discuss who you would feel comfortable naming as an emergency contact and whether I can safely leave you messages. Your emergency contact does not have to be a family member.

Imran Ahmed, trading as TalkWise, is responsible for your enquiry information. You can contact me at imran@talkwise.co.uk.
The contact form asks for your reply email, an optional preferred name and an optional short message. It also records your consent. Please leave out detailed health histories and information about other people. I use your details to respond, discuss availability and, if you wish, arrange an appointment. They are not used for marketing or automated decisions.
For the form, I rely on your consent under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a), and your explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) for any sensitive information you choose to include. You can withdraw this consent by emailing me. This does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. You do not have to include a message or health information to ask me to contact you.
Zoho Forms processes and stores the submission and sends the enquiry details to my TalkWise email inbox, hosted by Zoho Mail. These services also process technical information needed to operate and protect the form, such as connection and submission data. I use Zoho’s European service. Information about Zoho’s processing, international transfers and safeguards is available in its privacy policy. The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical connection data to deliver and protect it.
Enquiries that do not lead to therapy are kept only while needed to answer your question and complete any follow-up you request. Once that purpose is complete, the enquiry and related email copies are reviewed for deletion. Information needed for an unresolved complaint, legal obligation or claim may need to be retained separately for that purpose. If we begin therapy, I will explain the separate arrangements for therapy records before collecting those records.
You can ask to access or correct your information, withdraw consent, or request deletion, restriction or portability where applicable. Contact me using the email above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
